The Cannon Falls, Minn. Elementary School Encampment
May 4th & 5th, 2001
The Cannon Falls Elementary School Encampment was organized by (Private Anthony - Anthony Bianchi) & Jim Hjermstad. There were about 35 reenactors from reenacting units such as  the

1st Minn. Vol. Inf. Co.A
3rd Minn. Cav. Co.C Provost & Medical - Presently the 3rd Minn. Regt. Vol. Inf. Co.C
2nd Minn. Battery Light Artillery
4th US Medical
The Stillwater Guard
US Christian Commission

There were many behind the scene supporters as well for this educational event.
The Cannon Falls Education Foundation provided most of the funding.

The Encampment was for the Cannon Falls Elementary School & the
Cannon FallsCommunity Education
The Camp was to the rear of the school in a large grassy area and broke up into stations, as to accomidate all the students. The camp was open  for the school tours while school was in session and open to the public for that evening and the following day.

The Schedule of events included School & Public Tours,
Candlelight Prayer Service, Artillery & Infantry Drills, Medical Demonstrations, Christian Commission Presentations, Cannon Falls History Presentations, camp life, a Court Martial & a Cemetery Walk with a Salute with Volley for the past Civil War Veterans of the Cannon Falls Are & Col. Colvill.

At the Cemetery Walk, there was a Salute with Volley for our Civil War Veterans and words were spoken about Col. Colvill.
