Mother

Brother

Other Family ?
It has been thought that he was the last of the family to be born in Glassgow Scotland. That he was a very young boy when he came to America.

He died at age 24 of mortal wounds at Bull Run.

It was said that he was shot in the hip just befor the charge that
the Confederates made when Ed Welch was taken prisoner. It was also siad that George did not want to die in the hands of the Confederates so, he was carried to a wooded area by his comrades. It was siad that it was there that he died.

James A Wright  wrote that he was a young man of the best type. A brief acquiantance taught us love and respect. He thought he may have been a decendant of President McKinley
but, was not sure.  It was metioned that years latter McKinley's brought was seraching fo his grave.

George McKinley's grave was never found. There is a Stone  in the Cherry Valley Cemetery  just outside Cannon Falls where his
Mother and Father are buried.  It holds his memory. The stone is wethered and some writings on it are getting hard to read.

The George Mckinley Post  No. 92 G. A. R. of Cannon Falls was
named after him.
