About the Photograph
This photo copy of a photo copied photograph was found in the Pine Island Library. It is of the ladies belonging to the Women's Relief Corps in Pine Island. It is in association with the Joe Bower Post. There was no Corps #  or Charter information with the photograph when found But the names where taped to the rear of it.

The Women's Relief Corps was Nationally organized in 1883.  No referance was found as to the date of this Corps Charter, but some time after 1883.

Note the 1883 WRC Member Badges being worn by the women.

Mrs. Brown.  Mrs. Larock and Mrs. Brown were twin sisters.

In 1907, The Joe Bower Post 111 met on the first and third Saturdays of  the month at the G.A.R. Hall. S. Miller was the commander, W.B. Brown was the Senior vice commander, Frank Shay was the junior commander, John Kundert was the adjutant & George Page was the quarter master.                                                                                                                         Red Wing & Goodhue County Director 1907
The charter for the Joe Bower Post 111 was beleived issued on May 4th, 1888
It is believed that the Joe Bower Women's Relief Corps was active untill the late 1920's

This photograph is of the Post 111 grave markers that are found in the Pine Island area Cemeteries. These markers easily let us know where these members are buried on cemetery walks..Only civil War veterans that were members of the G.A.R. have this marker.
