A Encampment - Conflict in the town, skirmish & demontrations
This little historic town will come to life with life in camp, firing of muskets with skirmishes in town, infantry drill, living history demonstrations as well as the civilian life of the times going on in town.
An 1858 wagon train will gather & make its way from Cannon Falls to the State Capital.
Starting in Cannon Falls, the wagon train will make its way to the Red Wing area, through Hay Creek, Hastings, Cottage Grove, Inver Grove to Fort Snelling and on to the Capital. 20 wagons, 2 bugies & 26 ridders & as many as 100 horses are said to be a part of the event.
The early bird news
Sunday May 4th 4:30pm - 7:00pm The wagon train will be at the Cannon Falls Fairgounds for the public to veiw. Civil War Soldiers will be in the area as well.
Monday May 5th it will be at the Hay Creek Campgounds in the evening.
Wednesday May 7th at the Lock & Dam in Hastings and will remain there for Thursday. School tours from 12:00 to 2:30 on Thursday.
Saturday night May 10th at Fort Snelling there will be campfires and music.
Sunday May 11th at the Minnesota State Capital. Many Civil War reenactors will be at the Capital as well as many things are going on.
