After inspection , Captain Nelson administered the oath.

The Oath was as follows

All and each of you do solemnly ( or affirm,

as the case may be,) that you will bear true

allegiance to the United States of America,

and that you will serve them honestly and faith-

fully against all their enemies or opposers

whatsoever, and cbserve and obey the orders

of the President of the United States and the

orders of the officers appointed over you, ac-

cording to the rules and articles for the gov-

ernment of the army of the United States. So

help you God.

After, each company broke ranks with hearty cheers.

Not  all companies were mustered in on this day.
